IT'S OFFICIALLY THE BIG DAY!!!

Jan 29, 2008

So it is officially January 30th.  It is 12:10 a.m., and I have to be @ the hospital @ 6:30 a.m.  I can't sleep, I'm pretty darn anxious.  I did the bowel prep yesterday and that was just lovely.  I had sooo many doubts as the day wore on but I'm pushing forward because I know that I can do this.  I keep telling myself that yeah it's gonna be hard but that I will have many rewards waiting for me in the end.  The one that I'm most excited about is being able to keep up w/my kids.  That is a wonderful thought.  I'm going to try to go to sleep w/that one in my head.  Anyone who reads this please keep me in your thoughts and prayers...I will see u all on the other side!!!

I'VE GOT A DATE--JANUARY 30, 2008!!!!!!!!

Jan 18, 2008

Okay, so I've got my date!  I'm excited but nowhere nearly as excited as I should be because it hasn't really hit me yet.  I did get giddy w/happiness when I saw my surgery date is now posted on my page.  U wait sooo long for this, and it gets here, and ur kinda like a little numb to it.

When I started my medical weight loss, I weighed 319 lbs., and today @ the doctor's office I weighed 301 lbs.  It was a goal of mine to get to or below 300 lbs. before surgery.  I am basically there BABY!!!  That's all for now...Much love to all...Katie

I LOST 6 LBS. IN DECEMBER!!! WOO HOO!!!

Jan 03, 2008

Okay, so today was my last appt. w/ the Dietician @ KDMC, and I am one step closer to surgery.  I also managed (somehow, I have no clue how) to lose 6 lbs. in the last month.  This month was extra hard because of the Holidays.  My problem this year was actually sweets when sweets usually aren't a problem for me.  My husband makes THE BEST pumpkin roll on this planet, and I cheated and had @ least 4 pieces (not small pieces either:)) of it.  I have been doing a small little exercise routine here @ home though, so that could have something to do w/ the weight loss.  I've also been eating ALOT of beef jerky which may be high in calories and sodium but has like hardly any fat.  I think this will be my staple to help me lose @ least 6 more pounds before surgery.  More beef jerky.

So all I'm waiting for is for KDMC to call me to come in for my pre-op 3 hour dietary class, then I'll see Dr. Smith to schedule surgery.  It is getting really close, and I'm getting all excited and scared @ the same time.  Everyone please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.  I'll post as soon as I have my pre-op.  Much love to all...Katie

LAST APPT. W/DIETICIAN ON JANUARY 3RD, 2008!!!

Dec 11, 2007

So I had an appt. w/ the Dietician @ KDMC on December 7th and found out that I had lost 2 lbs.  I had actually been dieting and trying to follow the pre-op diet I was given for the week prior to this appt.  I only have to see her one more time, on January 3rd, 2008, and then I'll have the diet part completed.  I'll then have my 3 hour dietary teaching class, and then I will finally schedule w/ Dr. Smith to schedule my surgery!!!!!  I'm thinking that it should be late January or early February before I have the surgery but I am so thankful that it is only a couple of months away.

I cannot even begin to explain to anyone how READY I am for this surgery.  I have stopped smoking, it's been over a month now:))  I have weaned myself from all carbonated beverages.  I only drink Crystal Light, Sugar-free Kool-Aid, Flavored Water, Regular Bottled Water, and Skim Milk now!!!  I also went from 2% milk to skim.  I am not totally off of caffeine because they make a caffeinated Crystal Light w/Energy, lol BUT I have not had an Iced Cappacino in a month, and I was seriously addicted to those.  Had to have one EVERY time I went to town, which could have been up to 5-6 days out of the week.  I've also already ordered my first 2 months of vitamins for after surgery, and I've been trying out some sample packs of protein powders, and ordered a sample kit from Bariatriceating.com.

I have more motivation right now than I've been able to scrounge up in the last 4 years put together to lose this weight.  I think alot of it has to do with the fact that I was able to quit smoking when I didn't think it was possible.  The other part is that I know I'm preparing myself for a TOTAL lifestyle change.  I know it's going to be hard but @ the same time I also know that I can do it.  Isn't that such a wonderful feeling???  I'll go ahead and end on that happy note and try to post as soon as I know something about surgery or if I just feel like posting:))  HUGS TO ALL...Katie

LONG INTRODUCTION:)))

Dec 11, 2007

Welcome to my page.  I'm just getting the hang of setting this page up so please bare with me.  I'm 27 years old, married with 2 children, both boys, Chase is almost 8 years old and Chance is 3.  Like almost everyone else on here, I have struggled with my weight my whole life.

I am actually pretty far along in the process, I'm waiting for my surgery date.  I've been a member here since 2003 so that kind of tells you how long I've been researching weight loss surgery in general.

I will be having the Gastric Bypass @ King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky sometime in the near future.  Dr. Eric Smith will be doing my surgery.  He's pretty new to KDMC so if anyone could give me any feedback on him that would be great.  I can't find any on this site or anywhere for that matter, lol.  Personally I like him alot, I'm just looking for any other feedback.

I'm going to try to get a picture of me up soon.  Right now, I am @ my all time highest weight so I'll try to find a really recent pic even though I'm sure I'll be ashamed of it.

It feels like it's been such a long journey just to get to where I am but I'm sure I have no idea, lol.  I haven't even had the surgery yet.  I'm committed to this decision for surgery though, and I'm trying to prepare myself the best that I can.  I've even quit smoking which is something I didn't ever think I'd be able to do.

I would like to give a shout out to the makers of CHANTIX @ this time because I never would have been able to quit without the help of this wonderful prescription drug.  I would recommend it to anyone who wants or needs to quit smoking, no matter how much u smoke or for how long.  Even if u can't quit after the first week (I couldn't) keep taking this drug.  Each day you will smoke less until finally you feel no need to smoke.  It took me almost 4 weeks total to completely stop smoking.  It is expensive but soooo worth it.

Anyway, now that I've become a spokesperson for CHANTIX, I'll stop.  I'm gonna try to figure out the rest of the stuff that I need to fill out on this page, lol.  Big Hugs to All...Katie
