i have been heavy to now obese since puberty and have been looking into having weight-loss surgery for the past 8 years. Even thought I had great insurance and a medically necessary letter the answer was no, your insurance won't pay.

I weighed my heaviest back three months ago at 404 lbs. When most ask, they don't believe that was my weight. I got a new job this year  as a Registered Nurse with a Cadillac insurance plan and was praying that it paid for weight-loss surgery.  Several of my co-workers told me that our insurance would pay for it. So I went in for my first visit to Dr. Yu's office at the end of August this year. I was told it would take about 3 months for me to get approved and what was needed for my surgery (i.e. nutrition class, weight management classes, EGD, Psych Eval, etc. I completed everything and they submitted my information Dec. 4th  and I was called with the blessing news that I was approved Dec. 6th with my approval. My Nurse Manager approved for me to have 3 weeks off and I scheduled my surgery for Dec. 27th. Everyone was sad that I would miss the Christmas feast because of the liquid only diet; my response, " I'll be working anyway and I'm making changes, no worries".

Anywho, I'll be starting my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow. I'll be drinking GNC Lean 25 Shakes, chicken broth, lots of water with the sugar-free flavors. I'm not a big Jello eater (because I know what it's made out of, but I guess I will be for the next month and a half.  I'm looking forward to my new journey and challenges. I never give up and I'm not stoping now.

Good Luck, Happy Wishes, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Until Next Post
