My journey to surgical weight loss began about 3 years ago. I can remember going to one of the weight loss seminars and filling out the necessary paper work. I discovered that my insurance company paid for the surgery, but at that time they denied me. I became very discouraged and put the idea of surgical weight loss on hold. A few months later, I discovered that I was pregnant. So then my focused turned towards the new addition to my family.
Nevertheless, in August of 2009 I started seeing a doctor who specialized in medical weight loss because my insurance company required me to do a 6 month medically supervised diet before they would even consider approving me for surgery. Although I visited this doctor for an entire year, I didn't lose much weight and my insurance company denied me 2 more times before they finally approved me for surgery-thanks to the nice letter that was wriiten to them by the weight loss doctor I'd been seeing. So here we are 8 days until my surgery date and I am both nervous and excited.
