OT - All Dressed Up...

I was just logging on here to ask if anyone else was as neurotic as me in feeling the need to be a little more "put together" when they go in for follow up appointments with your surgeon. I was laughing at myself this morning as I took extra care with my hair and my outfit as I got ready to go. I felt like a kid trying to impress her teacher by showing how well she'd done her homework... Then, I get a call from The Lovely Linda (insurance guru/office manager) at my surgeon's office, telling me that Dr. Hung-The-Moon - seriously, I love this man -  had to run (literally) to meet a helicopter that was bringing him an emergency surgery. My first thought was that one of his surgeries had gone awry, but Linda told me (without specifics, of course) that another surgeon was sending his patient to them. It makes me feel even more happy with my decision to go with Dr. Rutledge, knowing that other surgeons come to him for help. 

So, now I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go! I think I may go Christmas shopping instead! I'm rescheduled to see my surgeon on the 23rd and I'm sorely tempted to buy gifts for him and The Lovely Linda! They'd probably all kill me if I made some sort of Christmas goodie! I'm actually really excited to see them (and kind of disappointed that I'm not going today!) because I haven't seen them since my 1 month follow up... Between being sent to my Gastroenterologist and a new receptionist at my surgeon's office somehow not setting up a 3 mo. appt, and now being rescheduled because of today's emergency, it will have been 6 months from surgery date when I see them again. I hope I get an A+ on my "homework"!!

I get excited every time I see my surgeon too. He is THE MAN!!!

lol...glad to know I'm not the only one! :)  My surgeon is AH-MAZING! 

Oh, I'm sure we aren't the only ones. MY surgeon is just so dang CHARMING! I guess he just has a really good "bedside manner" but sheesh!

I hear ya!  Mine is the same way.  And funny...when I met him for my first consult in March, I'd told him that I'd just gotten back from New Orleans.  I told him that we were there celebrating my 40th birthday at Commander's Palace so I could have hibiscus martinis.  He stopped me mid-sentence and said, "We're going to get along just fine."

That plus the seminar my hubby and I went to in January cemented for me that I'd picked the right guy for the job!

How fun! Mine was just so excited for me to have this surgery that his excitement was infectious! I can't count the number of times he said "this is just going to be so great for you!"  At my seminar, he kept playing with a laser pointer on the ceiling while he was talking like a distracted cat and I thought "This is someone that I would be friends with!!"

Add that to the fact that he is the doppleganger of the actor Eric Stoltz... seriously. The resemblance is uncanny!

That's awesome!  When my hubby had his sleeve done (same doc) in August, and Dr. Nicholson came to let me know that the surgery had gone well, I told him how much weight I'd lost and he said, "Well now I expect to see some healthy competition between you and Jim (my husband)!"  I'll get to let him know a month from now that between my husband and me we have lost a large adult man!

Ive noticed that not only do I painstakingly plan my outfits when I have a Dr appt..

I do now tend to do that whenever I go out ( w/ the exception of a quick run to the convenience store)

or I'm just proud of how I look now

and I'm no longer looking to blend into the background....

Oh, I think I've definitely turned into a bit of a pea**** too! I tend to stare at my reflection when I'm near mirrors (or anything reflective!)... It's not vanity, I swear! It's AWE!
