Will you be first in line for a Covid vaccine?

According to what they tell us, there could be vaccine in December or January on a limited basis. Who here will be lining up for it? My brother is a doctor and he had signed up to take the shot in trials, but they didn't follow up with him so he didn't get to participate.

Is anyone nervous about a new vaccine?

I don't want to one of the first ones taking. There have no long term results, not enough trial studies, etc;

Kathleen W., there are likely a lot of people in the same boat. I remember being lined up as a kid for vaccinations and that needle looked like it should be used on a horse or an elephant! Our lives have been so drastically changed by this pandemic, I'd like to be on the fence about it, but am also high risk.

I agree that our lives have changed drastically. It's scary. We need to do what's best for us. We know ourselves better than anyone else. Please take care of yourself.

Kathleen W., you're right, we do know ourselves better. With the research most people have done, we should have it wired right! Take care of yourself as well, and I hope everyone on this site does as well. There are some good and caring people here and I've found in the past 6 months or so, that most are very willing to help others out with true life advice and suggestions.

Health care workers and people in nursing homes will be first in line. I will probably be in line as soon as it is offered to others. I still have very vivid memories of polio, so know how much difference a vaccine will make. Dr Fauci says if people will take the vaccine, we should have herd immunity by summer of 2021.

White Dove,

It makes sense that the health care workers will be first in line, so even though my brother wasn't in the trials, he would be very early since he's an emergency room specialist. I was hoping to know firsthand what his reaction was since he volunteered for the vaccine, but I'll have to keep eyes on it otherwise. Can you imagine herd immunity by summer...I don't even dare hope. Polio was a scary thing for sure..I remember vaguely knowing of people who had had it and having it instill a fear in some of us kids. We actually know of people who have contracted Covid and died, so I'm hoping they will release some of the trial information soon on the success..have you seen any?

It is still a mystery in many ways. I understand that some people felt sick for a day after getting the vaccine. I would rather have one day than get COVID. I will be getting the vaccine when it is available. I hope enough other people do so that we will be out of this crisis in a few months.

I hope that there is herd immunity, but that will mean that people who have not had COVID will need to get the vaccine. And it might be like the flu and develop new strains each year. I think it might be a year or longer before I will feel comfortable in large groups or going in public without a mask.

White Dove, this whole thing is surely a mystery. I have heard about nearly every version of symptoms. One woman only found out she'd had Covid when she gave blood and they tested her blood for antibodies. Lucky her, she was around 60 and the only symptom she had was her sense of taste went wonky for a few weeks. The list is long on symptoms!

My family have already had Covid so nope, we won't be queuing up for the vaccine.
