Glad you got some time on the treadmill in. If you're feeling bored at all someone recently recommended doing a HIIT treadmill workout to me. I tried it once and it did keep things interesting.

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training. You can really use the method for any type of exercise - the basic principal is a short warm up followed by a series of high intensity work with short rests in between and then a short cool down. Most of the HIIT workouts I've read up on go with 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds of rest.

I did a 5 minute walk at a very comfortable pace, then picked it up to 3.8 for the 45 seconds of work, then stepped off onto the side panels for the 15 seconds of rest. I finished with a 5 minute cool down at my original pace, 3.3ish. 3.8 would be fast for me to sustain walking, but in the short bursts it was totally doable and the on and off really kept me on my toes.

Let me get this straight: You suggest that I, the original klutz, step off and back on a moving treadmill? I'm gonna say this in the nicest possible way: Have you lost your mind?!

I'm kidding, of course! HIIT workouts sound like they'd be good to really up the intensity. However, I think I'm gonna just work at the usual speed for the time being until I get more comfy on the machines. I do something kind of similar, upping the speed of the treadmill from the 3.5 I usually do to 3.8 or so, and then back down. Thanks for the tips!

LOL! I told you I'm terrified of the treadmill too, if I can do it, you could to.

When did I turn into a person who offers up workout programs? I need to look in the mirror again and make sure I'm still there.

Hi Pam, and all the gals who post here daily!  Happy Monday!  Here its beautiful Sun and 15C which is almost 60F so we are warming up and its great!

Pam great idea to have a a distraction while on the treadmill, be it TV or listen to an iPod of your favourite tunes.  Music gets me so motivated I can get lost in the music and forget how far I have walked!

Very busy week here at work, but I am determined to walk every day on my lunch hour and go out for a jog after work.  I jogged even farther yesterday than I usually do, I was so excited and felt so strong!  I actually think I might become a jogger one of these days!  I was able to jog for a full 5 minutes steady.  I usually do one minute on, one minute off.  Still stuck in my no weight loss stall so hoping by upping the exercise might make it move!!  I am not gaining weight, but I am not losing weight.  I think I am losing inches, the bra I am wearing today, the cups are actually not anywhere near full if you know what I mean, its like the fabric is buckling, hope that makes sense.  So I guess I am down a cup size for sure.  I hate bra shopping, I try to leave it until I absolutely have to go and I think I absolutely have to go.

Was cleaning out our front hall closet yesterday evening and found a pair of BRAND NEW, never worn Bass Weejuns leather shoes that I had shoved in the box to the back of the closet.  I was so happy, I had bought them about a month before surgery online at this shoe store that I shop at a lot.  I bought a size 8 and when I got them delivered they were so tight I felt like a vice grip on my feet, I could only get one foot half way in and the other foot never even got in (you know how we all seem to have one foot bigger than the other). So knowing I was going to have surgery I figured well I will lose a few pounds off my feet I hope and they will fit me perfect.  Well I pulled them out of the box and slipped them on well not only do they fit, they are actually TOO BIG NOW!  As I was walking my heels were coming right out of the shoes.  I was always a size 7 shoe for years and years and as the weight crept up and up I had to go to size 8 shoes.  Maybe not the smartest idea to buy a size 8 just before surgery but I didn't really think my feet would shrink that much!!  So now I have these gorgeous brand new shoes that are too big.  Now I have to figure out what I am going to do with them!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I had a bad weekend...not that I ate poor choices, but in that I didn't eat much at all and was no where near my protein goals.  And as a result I'm in a mini stall (only 2 days).  I'm annoyed at myself, but on to better choices this week!

B - Premier Protein (which was suppose to be my lunch, but when I opened my greek yogurt this morning I realized it had spoiled :(

L - I think I'll go to Chipotle, I always feel safe with 1/4 of a steak or tofu bowl (no beans or rice)

D - I think I'll have another protein shake so I can have nice high protein numbers today

W - On track

V - On track

E - Jillian Michaels 30 day shred

Afternoon ladies! It's colder here today, it's only in the mid 70s! Lol I'm going to try to focus of protein and water today and so far I'm doing ok. I'm going to try and hold off giving in to my cravings until Disneyland; no fried food, no Starbucks, no chocolate (?!) and no alcohol! (I know I should be doing this anyway...) maybe in the next few weeks I can get my head back in the game and won't even worry about some of those things then.

My eats for today:

breakfast: 2 artichoke bites with sour cream for dip, bacon and coffee and creamer

lunch: LO and I stopped for lunch. I got baked potato soup only ate about 3/4 ths of it

dinner: going to get some fish at the store and a salad

snacks: protein shake with some milk, cottage cheese if I'm hungry, and a Greek yogurt for dessert

my totals: cals: 955 carbs: 59 protein: 96

v: forgot this morning. I have been very bad about taking my iron so I have to get on top of that

w: not doing to well on this

e: my group pt class (I did 4 last week! Very proud of myself for doing 5 days at the gym last week)

have a great day guys!

Hi ladies and gents! I think NDHM is a gent, anyway :) Not sure why-no offense if you're a lady, but if you're a gent you add some diversity to the post :)

I had a MASSIVE NSV today :) Since it's a bank holiday in the UK I had the whole day to be a tourist. I decided to walk from my hotel in the West End to Tower Bridge. I walked and walked and walked. I met friends in the afternoon and walked some more. I met colleagues for dinner and walked some more. It's 11 pm here and I am just back to the hotel and my FitBit says I walked 25,000 steps!!!! That's just over 10 miles. Yeah my feet are a little tired but this would have been impossible just a few months ago! I truly didn't know that my life could be this good. I'm feeling super fortunate and grateful!!!

b: Premier protein shake

l: a chicken skewer and some feta/ roasted red pepper dip at a Greek restaurant on the Thames

d: a little high in calories-we had Indian and I had some chicken and prawns in some sauces that were likely loaded with calories plus two chunks of cheese from sag paneer. I was ravished, I guess from walking

e: 2 miles on the treadmill this morning and 8.5 in the city! Plus 20 minutes of strength training

w: must be up to 60 oz

v: one multi and 2 servings of calcium. I know! This is so not optional. I don't know what my problem is. Traveling is throwing me off my game. But no excuses!

Totals are about 900 calories, 75 G protein, 26 g carbs

Love checking in on everyone while I'm gone!!! Thanks, all!
