Hey all ,

I have to say , I find this post quite aggresive and really condescending . I am a fairly new 'Newbie' , if that is what people who have recently signed up to gather info and chat with people on this board are called . I find the notion that there is some sort of hierarchy on these boards slightly off putting if im honest . Mostly everyone who is joining is fairly new and (in my opinion) probably nervous and hesitant and above all , more or less clueless about their prospective surgeries. And to then read that they are posting wrong or ..whatever ...would be awful . If I had posted my first post , and had not posted these correct details , then read this post ...I'd be kinda mortified ! Probably hesitant to post again . Actually ...im already thinking about all my own posts and now feeling like an idiot as I probably didnt post any info or details .

Just saying ....let people be .....we are all learning here and last thing we need is to be made to feel like the new kids on the block who know nothing . Its a public forum , open to all ......even dafties like me !

I can't control what others do or say or write - but I can control how I feel..

If you can - check the book "Four agreements". Really good book..

Yes, the forum is open to everyone.  And if people want to post vague questions that we cannot answer or offer any assistance regarding, they are free to do that.  But for those that actually want advice or help, then these are good suggestions.  I don't see how it is aggressive to suggest people include relevant information in their posts that will allow people to actually respond in a helpful manner.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

And if the posts are vague, the veterans can choose not to answer..."they are free to do that."

And many of us do choose not to answer. Daily.

It's just that that's not the point. It that if a newb really wants an answer, the suggestions above offer the best chance and getting useful answers.

Jaxie,

I hear what you are saying and agree. I have experienced the same feeling from various posts along the way. The past few days, I have been seriously contemplating making another WLS site my go-to site. As I've posted several times, "there's a way to write your thoughts without being rude or condescending - even if your answers are 'tough-love' because the OP needs to hear them."

I'm not that far along, but I'll be willing to share experiences with you, sans judgement.

Lori
