Losing weight with weightloss surgery is a piece of cake...
lol my favorite is "you're taking the easy way out" easy my ass i say.
I don't like the impression people have either but it is just ignorance. They don't understand we have to work our tails off to get where we want to be. They don't know this is only a tool and after so long, we have to actually decide whether we want to eat again or use this new tool to be of "normal" weight. Just smile when someone makes a less than intelligent comment. You know the truth. :)
When someone asks me how I'm losing my weight, I tell them the truth. I had a surgery to help me feel less hungry, but the real way I'm losing the weight is that I eat less than 700 calories per day, and I burn about 3000 per week. It helps the people who would ordinarily pop out with "Oh, the easy way" keep their mouths shut! Heck yeah it's hard work, but I'd love to wear the 12 with ya!

If they invented a surgery to cure alcoholism would people say "oh you're taking the easy way out??" doubt it. Ignorance. NOTHING about this has been easy. We chose to take this very difficult, challenging, life changing step, because we wanted to feel better and be healthier. But not matter what people will always judge. Too bad for them.
Maybe I am not the norm...but for me it has been relatively easy so far. I had no complications, easy surgery, easy recovery, no insurance woes, no intolerances, no nausea, no vomiting...no foamies. I have exercised moderately, have been eating well, I certainly do not feel like I am dieting or deprived. I have lost 70% of my EW so far and am 8.5 months post op. hoping to be close to goal by one year out. I do have skin issues but nothing dramatically horrible that spanx can't hide. So yeah, it has been easier because before the VSG I was just never able to stick to a diet or lifestyle change for more than a couple of months. Now I feel like I can and I am doing it happily. I also have no hunger since surgery. So it has been easy and wonderful and I will defend my right and yours to have access to anything that renders good health easier and the same with the process and the results. Getting to a hospital by ambulance rather than on foot or a donkey cart is also easier and it saves lives. WLS is our life saver. Easy does not equal to illegitimate.
