Just curious has anyone gained weight after having DS? Or has anyone had children after having had DS?

There are a few folks that have gained a little too much but I've seen them go low carb and take most if not all of it off, even after several years post-op.  It' happens sometimes but to nearly as much as with other surgeries.

Several have had babies post-DS and all I've seen had healthy happy babies and did well themselves.

I'm considering having one more child before the DS surgery bcuz I wanna keep the weight off. My gastric bypass wasn't a success I bcuz I regained most of my weight. I'm looking for something that can me keep the weight. Also I need to get my eating on track.

Thanks again Gina. How many years post-op are you?

I'm not Gina, and I've not had a child post-op, but I am 9.5 years post-op and am maintaining a loss of 170 pounds, pretty effortlessly. If I carb out, I can put on about 5 pounds pretty fast---and they come right back off when I de-carb for a week or so.

Ok msBatt when you say pretty effortlessly what do you mean bcuz I workout and try to eat healthy for a week and barely lose a pound. My eating habit is poor. I even tried over eaters annyomous its a good program but i still struggle. its seems like with the bypass i gain Weight fast. Carbs are like breads, rice, flour, pasta etc....
Effortlessly you must not eat poorly like I do. I know ur not Gina I was referring to major mom lol

I had my DS in October 2010.  My highest weight was 302.  I had the surgery mostly because I wanted to have a baby without fertility drugs (I have PCOS).  I gave birth to my son this past October.  At my lowest I was down to 152 which was actually a couple of months after I got pregnant.  I gained about 40lbs during pregnancy and can tell you...it all came back off.  In fact I got on the scale this morning and I'm actually down to about 149lbs.  I'm not sure if it is guaranteed to work that way but I definitely had no trouble.

Good Luck
