patiently waiting

So I am on the list here in Newfoundland and have my orientation date, does that necessarily mean I am closer to a surgery date? I am obeese. Wow I just said that! I want to be healthier for my children and be happy with my body image. Would love to hear others opinions on the surgery, recovery time and pros and con's. Thanks

I just went to my family doctor yesterday and asked him to refer me to be placed on the waiting list. From talking to a friend of mine who has had the procedure done, the fact that you have your orientation date does mean you are getting closer :) congrats for that!  How long has it been since you have been placed on the waiting list?  Hope you are doing well!

I am now within months of a surgery date and I can't wait. I have been on the list over 3 years. He bariatric team are very supportive. 

3 years on the wait list?  I wasn't anticipating that long of a wait. A friend of mine was 2 years and 1 month from the time she got referred and my doctor said he thought the wait has been reduced a little now. What part of the island are you from? I'm in St. John's. A friend of mine went to her doctor a couple months ago and was told that the list is now over 5 years! Crazy. 

it is indeed a long wait as they have so many interested... and those with a medical necessity get done first  I've only made it to the webinar so far in a year.. and I have a medical necessity.. but that won't be considered until the assessment which should be within the next few months   I HOPE

I hope you get through the process soon. I continue to wait :(

i'll prob have another year or more to wait,  unless I can get my specialists to gang up on them when I see them this month
