For years I have been thinking about Gastric Bypass surgery. I went to a seminar about 6 years ago, went thru the process of getting approved and while waiting to be approved, my employer changes insurances on me. So 1 month after I have the NEW insurance, I received a letter stating I was approved for the surgery from my PREVIOUS insurance. So I was unable to have it done at that time because of my new insurance having an exclusion in their policy.
Fast forward to 2006 and again I am looking into having the Gastric Bypass surgery. I go to a seminar, see the Doctor, have all of the tests done and my insurance comes back denying me the surgery. I appeal and then it is still denied. I needed to have a 6 months physician supervised diet . My doc said she doesnt have one, just to come in each month and she would weigh me. At the time I was having problems with my knee and foot and not being able to walk without being in pain. I finally went to see a doctor about it and found out I had an acute torn plantar fascia and a cuboid fracture of my foot. So with all of the problems with that, I only made it to my physician for weigh in for two months. Then I quit going so I could try and get my feet better.
June 2007 I have finally decided to have the Lap Band instead of the Gastric Bypass. The Lord has put so many obsticles in my way for the Gastric Bypass that I am certain that it wouldnt be right for me. Once I decided on the Lap Band things have moved forward so quickly. I am self pay now and I have a surgery date.
