9 month Surgiversary!

Apr 07, 2015

Today is my 9 month Surgiversary- a time for reflection, evaluation  and action! The day I started my pre surgery diet on 06/30/2014 I weighed in at 318.2 and today I weigh 203lbs. So I have lost 115.2 lbs so far. This has not been an easy journey for me and I don't imagine it is easy for anyone...we all have stressors. I had terrible complications after surgery that landed me in the hospital for a month. Thankfully, my kidney's turned around on their own and I didn't end up on dialysis. For the longest time I could hardly eat anything at all and my energy levels suffered horribly for it. The protein shakes would come up the moment I would drink them. However, my new stomach has come a long way now considering. It still will not allow me to eat meats (no matter how they are prepared or disguised) and I have little to no tolerance for breads (I am not too concerned about them because I need protein). My weight loss feels like it is SO slow and stalling badly. I am doing what everyone says not to do and comparing myself with others and wondering why I am not getting the same results and am so scared because everyone talks about the magic "12 month window" we have to lose the weight before our tool no longer works with the malabsorption.    With that said - I have some responsibility and serious changes to make! - I haven't been able to get the protein I should in, I haven't tracked the way I should (though I know it has always been well under 1,000 calories a day but that itself could be a problem)- I need to break it down and share in the RNY forum (I have been reading it quietly and they really have motivated me!!!), I don't take all of my vitamins- need to do this, my water intake can improve A LOT and  now that I have the energy- I need to step on it with the exercise!. My father is ill - I will continue to take the best care for him, pray but not forget to take care of myself - NO MORE EXCUSES - I need to step on it with the exercise! So here is to being healthier, recommitting and losing my last 53 pounds.
