First of all Hi to All,

My name is Sylvia and I am 30 years old I have a two year old son (which I believe that I have only because at one point I was able to manage to lose about 50 lbs (highest amont of weight lost ever in my life))I have been over weight since I think I was about 9 or 10 years old.  I have had two back surgerys on the same ruptured disc L5, and I do not want another, my doctor says that if I have to have a third that, that is when he will install rods and screws and fuse my back. That is the main reason why I am seeking this laproscopic gastric band surgery, I want to lose weight and keep it off.  I have tried to excercise but because of my back problems, I am not able to do so with ease. After I had my last second surgery in Nov of 2008 I tried to do excercise, I was fine doing them at the time, but the morning after I wasnt even able to get out of bed, I thought to myself it was probably because I hadnt excercised in a while so I kept at it, and the same pain remained so I quit excersing, but I knew I had to do something about my weight. So I decided on the lapband not only for my health but for my family/son because I want to be able to run around and play with him without losing my breath or him not being embarrased of me when he got older.

My main goal with this gastric band surgery is to be healthy and not need a third back surgery, another goal is not to have heart disease like my father or diabetes like my aunts on my dads side. My mothers side of the family is pretty healthy, but my dads is the one that I have to worry about and they are all pretty much heavy set as well. Another goal is so that I wont be so lazy to chase my son around and play with him.

My back surgery is scheduled for Sept 30th 2009 and I hope that it all goes well and I hope I get to achieve what I am hoping  and praying for.

Thanks,
~Syl
