Saturday, 1/8/11 -- I went to the gym

Jan 08, 2011

I have had a gym membership for many years (since my daughter was 7 and she is 25 now) and at various times I have gone regularly and taken aerobic classes and worked out on the weight machines, but lately it has been a struggle for me to get there.  So, since Dr. Jossart told me that he wanted me to exercise and lose some weight before the surgery, I went to the gym today.  Usually, the problem seems to be that I am either too tired, or too busy.  I am a night person and I have to get up early for work, so I am many times underslept.  But today is Saturday and I slept as long as it felt good to sleep and I was able to go to the gym.  I did 20 minutes on the treadmill while watching the coverage of that awful shooting in Tucson.  Then I did bench press and some work with the weight machines (inner and outer thighs, leg press, pull down thing for shoulders and back, etc.).  Then I went to Costco and walked around and tried to find the protein drink that someone was telling me about (although Dr. Jossart said that it probably had too many carbs for me -- I think he meant during the weight loss phase).

I talked to my sort-of-ex-husband (we are still legally married, but live separately and are both dating) and asked him if he would be able to help me after the surgery.  Also, asked him if he would come over before the surgery and go through some of my food and take some of the stuff that I wouldn't be eating for quite a while.  (I had a laprascopic gallbladder surgery about 8 years ago, and I expect that I won't have much more pain than I had then and I had a pretty quick recovery -- of course, I am 8 years older now, so...).

Just my thoughts.
