Alejandro Aguirre

"I first met Dr Aguirre in person the day before my surgery was scheduled. I had talked to him a couple times on the phone and emailed him also. I believe I am his 3rd US patient. I am now Post-op as of April 15th 2003. Dr Aguirre was very nice. I feel that for all self pays out there, that he may be your answer to your financial situation. The nurses are all non english speaking !!!! The Hospital is more like a Clinic. I saw the Doctor aprox. 3 times a day. Just to say "hello" and find out if there was anything he could do ...I never did that blowing thing for your lungs. I was very sick and throwing-up from the meds. They never did get the meds right. I did not like being alone in Mexico, and would not recommend it to anyone. The nurses & entire staff at the clinic/hospital only spoke Spanish, this was very fustrating to me, but I was only in the hospital 3 days. Dr. Aguirre has done over 475 of these operations & he is very knowledgable, before surgery he gave info and answered questions I had, he also told me of the risks involved with this surgery. The post-op care was not explained very well and there were no real written instructions given. Aftercare is really important, and this part of the operation/aftercare is really lacking in my opinion.I recieved no structured aftercare program. It would have been great to get some instructions in wrtting (computer printout) to give all his patients!!! He also should give everyone a copy of there medical records before they leave Mexico, I have requested them from him for months and gotten nothing. For me it was a rough journey,I would not do it over again in Mexico, but I am hear to tell about it, and that is good..."
