I got in touch with her and she is doing great! She was alittle tired from walking but that to be expected. She told me they have unhooked everything from her execpt the JP drains. She will be coming home with those. She is stitched on the inside and stapled on the outside. She said her cut is about 10 inches long starting under her breast bone. She is still in good humor! Which we all know a good attitude helps you heal faster! Gene is out there with her and holding steady for her! She has eaten her first meal and did do well with it! I told her that everyone sends their love, hugs and kisses and she said thank you so much!! Lisa

This is just a small update until I can get through to Melinda. I called and talked to Gene and he said at the present she was talking to the nutricianist. So I questioned him about the X-ray. He said everything was fine! What a relief! He did however tell me that instead of her getting out today that they are holding her another day. I will call again before I leave for the day in hopes of talking with her. Lisa

Hi Everyone! I just was finally able to get through to Melinda! She is doing wonderful so far. She is in alot of pain however. She has been up once and walked to the door of her room and back which is awesome! She sounds wonderful and was laughing while I had her on the phone. She is such a sweet spirited person! alittle about her surgery They were unable to do her lap but since they started her that way, she has 3 openings from that. Her liver had to much fatty tissue around it and was enlarged so they couldn't see her stomach. Thats when they opened her. She doesn't know how long of an open cut she has, as it is covered. She just got back from her leak test. She said that was very uncomfortable. They had just brought her back up to the room when I called. As we were getting off the phone they came back in to take her down for another X-Ray. I am praying that this is just a precautionary measure so please keep her in your prayers. I will update as I here more.
