I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I have a picture of myself on my first day of kindergarten in a dress that was bursting at the seams, one from a grand mother's wedding when I was about 9 years old wearing a size 14 dress. I was into size 22 before I left middle school. Now I'm 27 years old, I have a wonderfully supportive husband, a beautiful 3 year old daughter, and dreams of a college degree and a teaching career. I have a lot to live for. I no longer want to live in a size 30 pant. I weighed in just last year at my heaviest: 385 lbs. So I tried yet another diet/exercise routine that worked while I had the time to keep up with it, but as soon as the exercise slowed, I gained. I went on birth control before I started school in January and I gained. I got back up to 383 before I decided it was time to talk to my PCP about weight loss surgery. So here I am...After a lot of waiting, fighting, and stress, I finally had my RNY Gastric Bypass on October 18, 2011 with Dr. Eric Hanly. I am very lucky to have such an amazing surgeon in my hometown. I am so thankful for everything up to this point and I'm excited to be started on this journey that will lead me to a better, happier, healthier life!

I'm not going to recognize myself in the mirror at the end of it! :)
