I began my journey in early 2006 with my intake interview at Kaiser. I was morbidly obese with many health problems (asthma, diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea....

I got approval to have gastric bypass in San Diego. I began losing in July of 2003 at a weight of 460 lbs. By November I had lost 55 lbs, and had surgery weighing 405 lbs. Over the next year or so I lost another 100 lbs or so, getting down to about 300 lbs.

I then began eating the wrong way (its not brain surgery, its a tool). Over the next year and a half or so I had gained back about 50 lbs, to weigh 350 lbs as of April 2006.

My wife and her sister had began a program called Take Shape for Life, and they were both losing weight and eating good tasting food. I had returned to the bariatric diet, but wasn't losing, and not having a good time. I decided to start Take Shape for Life, and have since lost the 50 I had gained, plus more, for a total of 70 lbs since April, 2006 (that's 180 lbs overall).

My wife has lost 130 lbs (from over 300 to just under 180 so far). Her sister has lost over 100 lbs. We are now trying to help others in their quest to get healthy.
