I believe we have lift off!

Oct 19, 2011

I haven't reached the moon just yet!  But I'm pretty darn close :D  I just got a call from my primary care provider's office that they have finally faxed my medical clearance to the bariatric surgery team.  Now the bariatric surgery team just needs to send it to my insurance for approval!  HUZZAH!

I've already met with my awesome surgeon, Dr. Pesta.  Once I have approval, Dr. Pesta's office will call me with a surgery date and I immediately start the 2 week diet consisiting of:
3 low calorie shakes
5 fruits & vegetables
1 lean meat or fish
1 cup of rice or pasta

Since my last post, I've decided to get the Vertical Sleeve rather than the Roux-N-Y.  I'd also like to point out that it took my primary care physician's office a tad bit over 3 weeks to fax my medical clearance back to the bariatric surgery office.  I had my required blood work drawn the day of my medical clearance appointment.  My pulmonary function test was a week after my medical clearance appointment.  So, it took about 2 weeks for the results to come back from that.  I had to also wait on my doctor to fill out the medical clearance form that was required by the bariatric surgery office.

Because my insurance required I meet with the surgeon before approval, I had to meet with him before insurance was submitted which I updated in my prior post.
