My Surgery and After Surgery 7 days Post-op

Dec 25, 2012

The Cleveland Clinic was great ! My Dr was DR Stacy Brethauer , I am VERY pleased with my choice. He really seemed to understand me, he listened and very supportive. He answered all questions and didn't rush with anything. I felt like I could totally trust him with my life ! After surgery the nurses made sure, I didn't need anything, they were sharp and on top of things with my EVERY NEED ! I honestly have NO complains at all .. Even after coming home, the nurse from his office called and checked up on me and asked if I had any questions and went over everything again, which was great ! I was on the Bariatric floor.

I got to the hospital the morning of the 19th , they took me back and started a port (IV) which really did not hurt. Then they took me to the operating room, the Dr came in asked me how I was doing and then they put me to sleep,,they took me to recovery room, but I woke up back in my room and the nurse was right there explaining the pain pump I had hooked up to me. ( I could push it ever 6 mins if needed) They took my catheter out so I could use the restroom on my own then. I had a IV in my hand and a drain tube out my side, which that was really nothing. They gave me choice of a drink or popsicle. The nurses were on top of things. They let me walk when I wanted to walk and rest when I wanted to rest. My Dr came 1 time a day (sometimes 2 times) Great bedside manner. They would come 1 time a day to draw blood, The Dr wanted me to stay 4 days, but it was so close to Christmas that I asked the Dr if I could leave after 3 days ( Surgery Wed. / out Fri ) So I walked- walked - walked and sipped-sipped-sipped, rest-rest-rest,,, The pain pump made me sleep all the time, so I was more careful pushing it so much. I won't lie, I am sore, getting up or sitting down or coughing is HELL. It hurts on the inside, not the out side of my body.. I am swelled, but its day 7 and my swelling is going down ALOT . I can see and feel a difference everyday which is great. Before I left the hospital they took the drain tube out, which it didn't hurt it just felt weird coming out.
