I joined OH to support my best friend who had RNY on July 17, 2008. I wanted to be there for her and learn how I could better understand what she has gone through and share her journey with her.I loved her as much before the surgery as I do now. I was never close with anyone who was obese until I met her. I never realized the struggles that overweight people go through. I never thought about having to ask for a table instead of a booth when dining out. I was never ashamed to be by her side, but I often saw people glance and I would wonder what they were thinking about my best friend.I saw the beauty inside her and out. It has been so amazing to watch her shrink and also to observe her confidence and joy in her new life. I am so proud of her!!
