Amending the below.  Two years after I received the lap band (and lost 75 lbs) I had a slip and chose to revise to a VSG.  I was very happy with my band and it did a great job...but unfortunately I had the slip.  I know many people who are successful with the band and continue to maintain healthy weights and continue to lose weight.  I have no ill-will towards the band, it just wasn't the long term solution for me.  I'm now very excited to begin using my new tool!

Well, where do I start? I guess when I was 28...I weight about 239. I was traveling extensively and started to realize that the seats were getting smaller on airplanes!!  I of course was deluding myself, because in reality, *I* was getting bigger!  Well, fast forward a couple of months when I had an "a-ha" moment. I was boyfriendless, traveling all over and was miserable.  I realized that I didn't like myself.  I thought to myself, "If I don't like me, how can I expect someone else, a potential husband to like me?" and I realized at that point most of it hinged on what I weighed and what I saw in the mirror.

I joined Weight Watchers and was successful, just losing under 60 lbs.  Then everything changed.  I was offered a job in Iowa and my entire weight loss routine and workout routine went by the wayside.  By this time I had found an AMAZING boyfriend and was comfortable again.

Fast forward several years.  I'm now married to that wonderful boyfriend and my weight had ballooned to over 270 lbs.  I was again unhappy.  I thought about WLS for over a year before I started working on the steps to have it.  I waited a year for insurance approval.  I now have the band and can't wait to see where this new journey takes me.
