Hi Jay :)
I'm 33 and just had RNY in February. Like you, I have always been overweight. I can't tell you how psyched I am for you, that you're having surgery at 17. I wish things were different when I was your age, because I would have never waited so long. You will never regret it... your life is about to change for the better in so many ways. Good luck with everything & keep us posted!

~*~Jay; i just want to say that I am happy to see you being aggressive about your health...it is sad that our teens have to face obesity ...so many things (tv/ads/supersizing/genetics/some laziness) to blame....listen to the docs and follow the plan...therapy if needed to help with eating issues...we ALL have them! sorry if I'm rambling...I'm old enough to be your gramma and I want good things for my own grands....bless you and best of luck with all you attempt!!!!!I wish that I had had my surgery earlier in life than in my 50's!btw; I was born in Jackson-Michigan!~*~
