Still here.....

Jan 24, 2008

It has been a long while since I have posted - just about six months.  Lots of things happening in my life. In September, I did security for Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx . He was in our "green room" just before meeting the crowd of hundreds of fans. This man had written a book about his addiction to heroin, and  we talked on the side and  I told him about my WLS. He said that we fight our battles in different ways, and  once we win our battle, the true treasure is @ the end My addiction to food was going to leave me diabetic , hypertensive , struggling to breathe ,and eventually kill me. With the help and support of you all , we are helping each other win our fights, and at the end we see that LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I am in this clip form his interview. Hope you enjoy the music and the story

Got the spring back in the step

Unbelievable!
The elephant is beginning to move like the panther! As you know I do some high profile security, and for the a number of years, my mobility to be able to respond to problems that arise was severely limited. That was until NOW!!!

Yesterday, I did a security detail for actress/ singer Mandy Moore.  The crowd  thickened to about 500 people, and it was my team's job to get her get her from the green room , to an webcast interview, and get her on a performance stage to sing. I thought that would waddle about ,like I used to... not anymore! My movements have become more fluid, and I am walking and Jogging with confidence I have not seen in years!

Mandy was pleased with the level of energy that I had and this has aided in having her interview ,show, and autograph signing go off without a hitch!

I give thanks to all my friends @ OH, my family, and my security team for all your support!

As Marty, from the" Biggest Loser" has said on his way to the gym, "It's time for the "gun show" !! "(muscle flex)   The Mandy Moore interview can be seen on www.melrobbins.com

Take care and thank you!!

Beginning to take notice

Well, it has been some time since I have posted anything new.  Since the last post, I have lost 51 lbs since surgery , down  a total of 80 since starting the program. I have been good @ giving people compliments, but when I receive them ,I become so embaressed .  But now, I accept them freely, and give myself  a mental high five, and say finally" you have noticed me!"

@ two weeks.....

May 02, 2007

Well, I went to the doctor for my 2 week post- op, and a short visit to my dietician. So far, down 20 lbs from my surgery and just been advanced to my next stage. I am so happy that this is working for me . For any one else that is considering this , this is a decision that should not  be thought about lightly, dedicate the time to yourself to maintain the new you.

Fear.....

Feb 28, 2007

I am now awaiting approval from my insurance provider, Tufts Health Plan, also known as God. I find it unbelievable that insurance providers are  not going to cover life saving surgery. I was told 5 years ago by a doctor thst he predicted I would die within 3 years. 2005 , I almost did. I am either planning for surgery and  my life afterwords or I plan for a shortened life, thanks to the bureaucrats in the healthplan boardroom, with 6- figure salaries, personal trainers, and a different health care provider than what they work for.

Everyone I ask for your prayers for these boardroom gods to have a heart and compassion. and approve my surgery.
