Mary F.
I am a 35 year old mom of 2. I wasn't always obese. I was a very athletic and strong kid. Once I became an adult my weight issues began. I have been battling with weight for 15 years now. I was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers which was short-lived as all of my weight loss successes have been. Of course the roller-coaster drops you off at a higher weight than when you began.
I would like to have Lap-Band surgery so that I can have the tool I need to feel satiated when I eat.
My family medical history is just out of control. I am a cancer survivor 1 year out. I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma last year when I had a mole removed so I would look nice in a bridesmaid dress.
My mother is a survivor of Ovarian Cancer. She is morbidly obese with high blood pressure. I see myself sliding down the same path of obesity that she did. Her whole side of the family is riddled with obesity, heart problems and type 2 Diabetes. I would like to prevent some of those problems now that I am getting older and my weight is increasing as I am aging. I am not at my heaviest right now since I managed to lose 25 pounds on Weight Watchers (yet again) a year and a half ago. However, despite my success, I gained it all back and then some within 3 months.
I go to my PCP next monday for a check-up and get some tests ordered and then I have my first consultation scheduled with Dr. Jean-Baptiste on Tuesday.
I am excited in the prospect but have a deep down feeling that my insurance won't cover it because my BMI is too low. 174 pounds on someone who is 4'10" is not very cute. LOL
