Almost 5 Weeks Post Op

Oct 01, 2007

On Wednesday I will be 5 weeks out. I havent weighed since I was 3 weeks out and at that point, I was down 31 pounds from surgery... 58 with my pre op diet. I'm excited to get to weigh again, but I am out of state and would rather use my scale at home to keep the weightloss consistant to one scale. My husband spent a year in Iraq and has been home since about a week before surgery. We are in Texas right now clearing him to come up to Ft. Lewis and be close to home again. That will be so wonderful. Bless his heart, he has been so supportive of my decision to have the bypass. He's been there every step of it and is sure to remind me every day how beautiful I am even when I can't see it. It's discouraging how after almost 60 pounds, I cant feel or tell a difference in my weightloss. I think once my clothes get too big to wear I will see more of a difference. I'm getting there and although there are things I crave, I just keep telling myself that those things dont taste as good as being thin and healthy will feel.

My Journey So Far

Jun 14, 2007

I Finally got to attend my gastric bypass seminar with Dr. Weber who is FANTASTIC! First impressions do mean an awful lot.

It has taken a bit to get to this point. The run around with my PCP's office was absurd. They faxed wrong codes and information to Tricare on my referral. Getting it all situated was such a headache and I was honestly getting really discouraged at the whole idea.

Before the seminar yesterday, I had a chance to talk to a wonderful woman named Dana who is doing awesome. She was able to answer alot of questions and was in the same boat as I am. Her husband is in the Navy, mine is in the Army... both currently serving in Iraq. She went through the process without him home and loved being able to surprise him as he walked right by her at the airport. How incredible is that?

There were 6 of us yesterday on our journeys to WLS. I don't know where they were all at, but it's so nice to know that you are not alone.

Dr. Weber was very thorough in his information, but not boring at all. In fact, by the end of his seminar, I didn't realized we have already been there for 2 hours.

I have my consult with him next Thursday! I'm so excited. I will update then or shortly afterwards!
