Met 6 Month Goal +10 Pounds!!

Jul 26, 2010

My surgery was six months ago today.  I made an appointment with the nutritionist to go over some basic questions about food and vitamins, which I really could have asked over the phone.  BUT I wanted to get the offical six month loss and only the surgeon's scale makes it official in my little mind.  I HAVE LOST 110 POUNDS IN SIX MONTHS!!!!!!!!!

Thank God he gave me the courage to have this surgery after years of thinking about it and chickening out.

I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!!!!

84.6 pounds gone in 129 days!

Jun 04, 2010

I'm so happy and grateful and blessed.  My journey has been trouble free and such a gift!

Went to the doctors today and I'm down 84.6 from surgery day and 94.6 from my heaviest.  All my lab work was good.  Only change is to reduce the B12 to three times a week.  I get blood work done in December and see the surgeon again in January.

I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!!

Well just damn!! (in a good way)

Mar 23, 2010

Today I'm down to 379.  That is 48 pounds lost since surgery on 1/26.  Just under 2 months and I'm nearly half way to my 100 pound loss in six months goal.  VERY happy!!

I had planned to let my doctor's visits weigh ins be the official ones, but I don't go back until June and certainly can't wait that long to update now can I??

I LOVE MY RNY!!!!!!!  No problems to speak of, just adjustments to make.

Well just damn

Mar 08, 2010

Went to the doctor today for a routine check up and find out his scale and mine are 9 pounds off.  I thought I was 9 pounds lighter........ugh.  But 35 pounds since surgery is still a good thing and I'm happy.

I also went and got myself a new hairdo and hair color today.  Got rid of the gray and now I'm back to a warm brown.  2010 is the year of changes for this gal.

Don't have to go back to the doctor for three months and at that time we will go over blood results.

I'm loving my RNY!!

On to phase 2 foods!!

Feb 08, 2010

My surgery went well on 1/26/10.  The pain was really less than I anticipated.  The first night and day after I did have nasuea issues, but I was given something for it and it was fine.  I left the hospital on the second day as planned and came home.  I would recommend LOTS of sugar free popsicles for all new post ops.  They were the only thing that made me happy.

Today I had my first follow up appointment and have lost 17 pounds since surgery and got moved onto phase 2 foods.  JOY TO THE WORLD!!  Truth be told, I did have some cream soup and a scrambled egg over the weekend.  I have to tell you, that soft scrambled egg was HEAVEN!!  And I'm not even an egg person.  LOL  I'm on phase 2 for 3 weeks, if all goes well I move on to phase 3.  I'm to see the surgeon in four weeks.

The journey has really begun!!!

I HAVE A DATE!!!

Dec 18, 2009

January 26, 2010 will be my "rebirth" day.  I was hoping it would be sooner, but by no means am I complaining.  This process has gone smooth as silk and I'm just trying not to kick myself too hard for not doing it all sooner (as in 7 years ago when I first started considering it or 3 1/2  years ago when I first visited a surgeon).  The important thing is I'm on my way.

I have decided to have the date tatooed on the inside of my wrist after surgery as a reminder of the gift of a second chance and as a motivator when I might feel weak or down or have regret.  I had hoped for a smaller number than I XXVI MMX, that's gonna hurt like the dickens, but I'll suck it and make it happen.  LOL

God is great and prayers help.

Highmark BCBS

Dec 17, 2009

I just have to say again how happy I am with my insurance company.  While I don't like the six month monitored diet process they ahve been fantastic.  I was approved in under 24 hours after my surgeon submitted the paperwork.  And today they called me to go over the procedure, answer questions, go over my post op care and give me number for their own nutritionist and hlep with nurses and diet plans.  They will also be calling me after surgery to insure I was happy with my experience and doing well.  I think they have been awesome!

Approved!!

Dec 15, 2009

The surgeons office called today and told me I have been approved by my insurance company.  It was just yesterday afternoon or this morning that they received my letter of medical necessity from my GP and approved already?!?!?  I cried when I got the news.  I will never ever say a negative thing about Highmark BC/BS ever!!  God bless them.

Now I have to wait for the nurse to schedule an appointment with me to go over a few things, another appointment with the surgeon and then it's surgery.  I won't be making my December 31 goal, but I am more than thankful to have it in January.

Now I have to finish all my weight loss surgery books.  I've been lagging behind and now I need to speed read!  LOL  Oh well, this is a problem I embrace.

Soon to be on the losers side!

9/8/09 - Psych Exam Complete

Sep 08, 2009

And I'm not crazy lady!!     Fooled him!  LOL

Seriously though, the doctor said I seemed a great candidate and well prepared.  I gave tons of credit to my obession with this website and reading what people have gone through.  Lots of dos and don'ts I can learn from.

Tomorrow I go back to my GP for my monthly appointment.  This is number 3 and only 3 more to go!  Getting closer to the time we get to submit to BCBS.  Yippeeee!!!

8/27/09 - Testing Protein Drinks

Aug 27, 2009

I had my upper GI yesterday.  All is well.    One more thing off the pre-op list.  I weighed in at Weight Watchers yesterday and lost 2 pounds this week.  Not too bad considering how little I tried.  I'm not using the plan, but I need a way to have my weight documented for insurance reasons.  I'm not bad mouthing WW.  I know many who have had great success with it.  I lost 60 pounds on it years ago and found it wasn't a hard program to live with.  The problem is when you have HUNDREDS of pounds to lose it's hard to stay on the wagon.

But the plan I'm using is to replace my breakfast and dinner with protein shakes and having whatever I want at lunch.  I'm hoping this will accomplish several things.  I will be able to lose weight to make my surgery safer and get my journey started at a lower rate.  (side bar --  does the journey start at pre-op or surgery date?  I'm going with surgery date)  Secondly, it will give me the opportunity to have a Good Bye Tour of some bad for me foods.  And lastly I will be able to experiment with proteins prior to surgery so I know what I like and what I don't.  And may I just say that these darn drinks have me burping like not well raised young lady should.  LOL  Using the samples before ordering the better value large tubs will help me from making some expensive mistakes.  Oh, I have also started taking vitamins.  I've gone crazy!!!  Good crazy though.

And lastly I should add I am beyond addicted to this website!!  Thank you to all the users who are helping me and don't even know it.
