I am 55, married, one 25 year old son. I have sleep apnea, high cholesterol and diabetes. I have had cataract surgery in both eyes, and a retinal detachment requiring a scleral buckle to fix that up. Now have leaking blood vessels in that same eye, affecting my vision.
Had the DS surgery 7/2/2009 and in the month since then my blood sugars have normalized!
I know the DS requires lots of careful attention to protein levels, getting in vitamins and nutrients - but no more than the attention I was paying to testing my blood sugar, treating my lows, and dealing with the possibility of losing my vision. It was a very good decision.
