Hello!  I am a mother to 3 children and a nursing student as well.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for 18 years.  I have always been obese for as long as I can remember.  Even as an active teenager and a high schooler playing varsity sports, I weighed in at around 200 lbs.

I have tried almost every diet imaginable throughout my life, always having a little success, followed by regain plus a little extra. I used to kid myself saying I was the "healthiest fat person I knew" just because I had no other health issues.  Well, as my weight slowly crept up over the years that all changed.  Three years ago I found out I was diabetic. Last year I was also told that at the age of 37 I had the knees of someone in their 60's.  So, at 38 years old now, tipping the scales at 360+, I have diabetes, osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, and most likely sleep apnea according to my doctor.  So much for the healthiest fat person I know, huh?

After many years of researching WLS, 5 to be exact, I finally built up the nerve January of this year to attend a seminar.  This began a journey that is leading me to a new me, and a healthier me.  A journey that I am glad I finally got up the nerve to begin.  I owe part of that to friends of mine that have been patients of my chosen surgeon that gave me the confidence in his abilities to give him a chance.
