I am a 46 y/o female from Seattle who has been obese since I was 11. In 1999 I flew to Mexico to have the Lap Band placed. The Lab Band was still in clinical trials in the US and the trials were closed so I researched having it in a different country. Surprisingly, the medical care I received in Mexico was in most ways superior to US medicine and I had a great surgeon (Roberto Rumbaut). I lost 70 lbs but then developed severe reflux whenever the band was tightened. Subsequently, my band has had to stay empty and I have gained all the weight back plus 80 more. I am now in the process of preparing for a Lap Band to RNY revision. Yesterday I received my surgery date of July 17, 2007 and now see a hopeful future for myself.
