After much reading, thinking and research, I have finally decided to take the big leap, or slow waddling step, towards having the sleeve bariatric surgery! I am scheduled with Dr. Ponce de Leon and Trish on Monday, November 5th, 2012 in Tijuana Mexico. I really can't believe that it is a go, can I possibly be smaller, healthier, move with less knee pain and enjoy a hot soothing bath again! It is exciting to dream of shopping for smaller clothes, being more mobile and not sweating profusely in the summer. I think the real challenge will come next year when the body changes, will the head keep up? What will it be like to eat food again? Can i enjoy the taste, texture etc. without needing to stuff it all in to my mouth even when already full to the point of pain? I can only pray that I will learn to use food to live and not live only for food. The surgery is my first step in the journey to a healthier weight.
