THE YEAR IN REVIEW! HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO ME! I began this quest as a miserable, obese woman who never truly understood or appreciated her body or soul. In the past year, through many, many, many ups and downs, I am finally beginning to love me. For anyone reading this profile and is considering WLS - I won't lie to you. It isn't easy. Physically speaking, my journey has been unremarkable. Psychologically, however, it's been a real rollercoaster. My marriage ended after I found that the one person who I always bragged cared about me no matter what size or shape was poking fun at me online by using a screen name "married2afat1". (Crushing blow, to say the least!) Many friends who were dear to me on 8/21/02 now won't call. Maybe it is because I no longer worry so much about pleasing everyone else. It was time to start pleasing myself. I know that I was a good person before. But now, I have the confidence to realize it. I've started over. 8/21/02 truly was my second birth. Sooooo....HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

This surgery is absolutely awesome! In just 2 1/2 months, I am down from 263 to 204 - a total of 59 pounds gone! My self confidence has improved greatly. The morning of surgery, I was wearing a size 26. This morning, I can wear all 18's and some 16's, too. I feel so blessed to have a second chance and to have been at the hands of such an awesome surgeon!

It's the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It's the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give, and the soul afraid of dyin' that never learns to live. Thinking of you as you take this step to a happier..healthier life..you deserve this..*hugs*
