Hubby is recovering!

My husband had his surgery yesterday.

He went in at 10am and didn't get back to his room until 2pm.  He had intense gas pain at the begining, and he had to wait 2 hours to walk because they wanted to make sure the anesthesia had warn off.  After he got up and walked around the gas became much more tolerable.

I'm a little bummed because the doctor did not come by at all yesterday - I know he had at least two other surgeries, but it would have been nice to hear how it went.  He should be here this morning.  I believe my husband is going to have the leak test today and then will be able to start sipping away.

Wish us luck!

Best of luck!  Hopefully they did a leak test on the table too...

Oh, wow. The leak test. My doc (Johns Hopkins) doesn't do it - hasn't for a couple of years at least. Says it causes more complications than it finds, and is hard on the patient. So glad I didn't have to have it!

Congrats to your husband for making the choice to pursue health!!!  :)

Glad to hear things went well and it sounds like you might get to head home today. I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes well with his tests and you can be homeward bound!

That is really unusual that the doc did not check in. Sending good karma your way that all goes well and you can take him home today.

Yes - the communication between the doctor / his team and us was less than par.  My husband is fine and we have made it home.  He is getting his fluids down easily which is a nice sigh of relief -- I remember it being a challenge that first week.
