GOAL!!!!!!

I did it!  Ten months after my surgery I made it to my goal weight and couldn't be more excited!  Along with that excitement comes fear and trepidation about going on maintenance. Maintenance is more difficult than losing and I want to do it right.

My surgeon wasn't much help, and his office no longer has a nutritionist who I can talk to.  All my surgeon said was, protein first, then veggies and fruits, and to eat no more than 1000 calories a day.  That is all well and good, but I need to do lots of research to make sure I add those calories in the right way.  I will conquer this, just as I did the pre and post surgery restrictions.

This surgery has changed my life is so many wonderful ways, more ways than I could ever list here, but I'll give you some highlights.

  1. I didn't walk much when I was heavy, but now I'm not only walking, I'm hiking up to 30 miles a week.
  2. I can tie my own shoes without being out of breath.  I used to feel like I was drowning when I bent to do it.
  3. I'm a cheap date!  My husband and I almost always share a meal now.  We both love it!
  4. Shopping for clothes is so much fun now.  I can go into any store and try things on.
  5. My health is so much better.  No more meds for BP or cholesterol.  Also no longer pre-diabetic.
  6. I'm more a foodie than ever before.  Such small meals lead to great food, because I get so little at a time.
  7. I can sit in a seat on an airplane and not have someone's elbow in my side.
  8. My husband has lost weight with me, and is extremely supportive of all of my WLS decisions. He cooks for me too!
  9. My energy level is through the roof, and I love to get up and go, instead of sit and vegetate.
  10. My doctors are so pleased with my progress, and give me nothing but kudos for a job well done.  A+ from both.

Thank you Obesity Help community for all that you have done for me and my family.  My life has always rocked, but now it rocks even 10 times harder!

Congratulations!  Just a heads up about posting before/after pics- there is this douchebag who collects some of the before/after pics to make terrible videos to post on youtube. Once you post them, you can't ever get them back. If you delete that helps, but someone could have copied/paste by then.

So Happy For You!!  Congrats on your success.  Please keep posting as a lot of us can use your expertise daily!!

My husband is losing with me also which is awesome.  He never questions the meals I make and doesn't ask for the extras like bread, etc.
