How many calories at 1 week post-op?

Today is the first day I have started writing down calories.  By dinner time I will be a little shy of 400 calories.  Protein is 36 grams prior to dinner.

What was typical for you at this stage?

That sounds right on with where I was the first few weeks.  I'd suggest adding protein powder to your drinks, yogurt, puddings, jello, etc. to get the protein up a bit, as it is important for your healing.

It sounds like you are doing well.

best wishes,
Carol

Your calories seem fine, but to me your protein is way, way too low. My plan called for a minimum of 60 immediately post op, and by two weeks 80-100 grams per day. Yes, I had to use shakes to do it, but by getting in all the protein immediately post op, I healed quickly and maybe only coincidentally, had no hair loss, but I like to attribute losing no hair to my high protein pre op and post op diets.

Thank you!  I just want to clarify that these are calories/protein prior to dinner, not for the whole day.    I think I will probably try a Greek yogurt in a protein shake - that will give me another 33 grams.

I had about 400-600 calories per day the first several weeks.  Now I'm 3 months out and getting usually 500-700.  Make sure you protein and water are priority.  Track everything.  Good luck on your journey!!!

My Physician and NUT wanted me only focusing on protein and carbs. Until this day I still don't count calories just those two things! Good luck to you.

Thank you!  I'm on track to get 65+ grams of protein today which is an improvement!

At a week post-op, I was eating between 600-800 calories, though also told not to track and just focus on 60+ grams of protein a day.
