Fine if you can limit yourself to the half cup and count it as one small meal or snack.

Would not have worked for me during WL. I generally looked for the most protein bang for the calories. I can get 20+ grams of protein in 3 oz of chicken with 0 carbs for only 110 calories.

A general rule for my plan (and many others) when I was first a post op was any food I ate should have at least 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories.

I would consider soy nuts more a maintenance food. Of course, that's my opinion.

I followed the 1 to 10 ratio mentioned by Karik, but was Ok with this being averaged over a day. So 1 protein shake was nearly a 2:1 ratio, so it allowed for other foods to be slightly lower like your nut option here. By the end of the day I made sure it balanced out to the 1:10 ratio in other words. Just make sure it isn't triggery for you.

I'm 3 month post op and I wouldn't consider eating anything like that yet. In weight loss mode, I am sticking to very low carb, high protein, until I get closer to maintenance.

5' 5" tall. VSG on August 4, 2015/ Starting weight 239.9/ Surgery weight 210.9/ Current weight 137.4/ Goal weight 140/ No longer overweight, now a NORMAL weight. Now that I'm at goal, it's time to move on to maintenance!!!!!!!!

So interesting how programs differ. For example, my program says (and it is in bold, large font) "THIS IS NOT A LOW CARB DIET. Carbs are needed for energy...." Of course because I tend to listen to you guys (the pros) more so than the RN of my program, I limit my carbs.

Thanks for the advice...think I'll skip the Soynuts for now and look forward to them during maintenance.

If you have any ideas that satisfy that crunchy, salty craving I'd be open to hearing them.

Try Pork Rinds which are both crunchy & salty. A 1/2 oz svg (about 9 pcs) has 9 gr of protein, 80 calories & 0 carbs.

I wish I could...I just can't bring myself to eat them because I know what they are.  I'm weird!

take a serving of turkey pepperoni . . . . put in between paper towels and microwave 1.5 minutes. pat with paper towels to remove remaining oil. crunchy chips i dip in chobani ff yogurt (for added protein). or make Parmesan chips on parchment paper in oven :) . . . . . . . .
