Spicy Food?

My Irish taste buds are not big fans of spicy, but I love, love, love burrito bowls from Chipotle, which is very spicy...for me.  A bowl is usually 3 meals for me and I have never had a problem.  I had some last night, will have some for lunch and dinner tonight.  Because I cannot drink, I get some sour cream on the side in case I need to put out the fire.

You might want to take it slowly before you introduce anything too spicy into your diet.  I have no problems at all, and I love my food spicy and hot hot hot.

Avoid spicy food while you're still healing from surgery, 4-6 weeks after surgery. Then start small and build up your spice tolerance. Your sleeve will tell you if you've eaten too much spice. I've had no trouble at all. Of course, as an East Coastie, my definition of spicy is Old Bay.

In theory I have no problem with spicy food. But it can be different now since I can't drink with food to temper the spice, nor do I eat spicy food with carbs (like rice) that helped to temper the spice in the past.

I had refried beans spiked with hot sauce and melted cheese as one of my very first meals once I was cleared for pureeds. I don't have any problem with spicy foods, they don't irritate my stomach at all and never have. That doesn't mean you're good to chug a bottle of sriracha once you can move to full liquids, of course, but I see no reason why spicy foods would be off limits unless they cause reflux for you or something like that. I use salsas and hot sauces more than any other type of condiment!

I do think my tolerance for spice has gone down since surgery, but maybe it relates to not drinking while eating anymore. But, yes, I still enjoy spicy food regularly and it gives me no issues at all!
