Freaking Out...

So, I was sleeved Monday and everything has gone great.  I asked my surgeon if I needed to take a stool softener because when I had my tonsils taken out a few years ago, I had an impacted bowl due to the pain medicine and I gave "birth" to a tennis ball size ___ (you know).  He said no because I was going to be consuming nothing but liquids and he wasn't worried, but I am!  I have not gone #2 since before the surgery!  I have had gas, but that's it.  Also, I gained 5 pounds from the surgery and I am only down 2 pounds from my pre-surgical weight.  Should I have lost more in 5 days???  I have been great on my clear liquid diet, protein, and water.

I didn't poop for over a week, and then when I finally did they still didn't come often until I started eating a regular diet again. I hope that helps.. I am not usually so open about my bathroom habits. lol

I am almost two weeks out and experienced the same problem you did with an impacted bowel. I only took the pain meds on the day of surgery, second day it was Tylenol and nothing after. I was only on liquids and still on day seven it hit and it lasted two days with the worst pain ever. I now add MiraLAX to my morning water (it is tasteless). They told me to get a stool softener "during" the episode which helped, but the MiraLAX will help going forward. Good luck.

A stool softener can not hurt, I would definitley take them and have Miralax in the house especially since you have already had a bad experience in the past.  Why risk it?

Your weight loss is normal.

I took a dose of Miralax every day for the first month or so.  Now I use it every morning I don't poop.  I'm super regular, so I only need to use it a few times a month now, but constipation is no joke so I stay ahead of it!
