I stayed 36 hours. I didn't have any complications, no nausea or vomiting.
My husband stayed 3 days. He had extreme nausea and dizziness and as a result, could not drink anything. So they kept him a couple extra days.
I'm thinking this is a YMMV situation.

My surgeon puts his patients in 23 hour observation. Unfortunately, I spent 10 hours in recovery room so I started out behind the 8 ball. Then I had a hard time keeping my oxygen up for about 2 days. Then I had an allergic reactions to two different drugs. Lucky me. I stayed 4 nights, 5 days. But the good thing was, I was well on my way with passing stools and drinking fluids, and I was almost off pain meds by the time I left the hospital.
