So DAMN Confussed
I got an email from my surgeon in Mexico about my Preop diet. It stated 36 BMI and below do 1 week preop liquid diet 37 BMI and above do 2 week. I am 36.6 BMI I took it as one week for me of full liquids. My friend who is relatively the same size said she had to do 2 weeks and that I also should have. I have 11 days till surgery. I'm scared I screwed up! I read on anther page that the person got opened up and sent home because their liver was too fatty??? I'm scared mine will be bad because I didn't do 2 weeks.

Start today, follow it to the letter, no cheats and you should be good. Err on the side of lower carb/fat foods like protein shakes, clear broths and sugar free jello, black coffee/tea, and wean yourself off carbonated drinks. You will appreciate the extra days on the liquiud diet after surgery.
Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
At a BMI below 40, there is no way your liver is too big to do surgery. In fact, if a surgeon told me he couldn't do surgery on me at that weight because my liver was "too big," I'd fire his ass for being incompetent!
But if you are worried about it, I'd talk to your surgeon and get their advice, not that of your friend who I assume is not a medical professional or at least not a bariatric surgeon.

Thanks everyone! I started today and have stuck to it! I hope its good enough! I just read on other sites it wasn't the Dr. who said my liver would be to big. I'm just scared and all since I have never even talked to the surgeon. I picked him because, I know 3 people who went to him and said it was great. I can't afford the surgery in the states so this is my only option.
