How far in advance did you tell people?

I know some people do not share with anyone outside of their very inner circle that they've had the surgery but I plan on telling everyone (I'm good at keeping others secrets but not my own!)  Of course my spouse and child know as do my parents and in-laws.  My question comes because I have friends who I know are not going to be overly supportive.  I mean, they're good friends and they'll support me because of that but I know their views on WLS and they are "against it."  Need I say these are all thin friends?  I was thinking of waiting until right before surgery but then does that make it look like I'm ashamed of it?

Any thoughts/experiences you have on the topic are much appreciated.  Thank you.

I would tell them as close as possible to the date of your surgery, just in case something happens at the last minute.

But I am in the need-to-know only category, so I didn't tell even all the people on your "of course" list. :)
