I'm miserable!  Tried calling my dr about liquid pain med that makes me puke or dry heave. Was told I don't hv any other options.  I showered & did a small walk outside just want to sit & cry - feel like crap someone please tell me tomorrow is a better day in this process - I'm regretting this:( the gas is the worst & I can't get much down in regard to liquids - ice pops are about all I can handle & I've got hearing blanket on my belly - trying anything to get some relief!!

If your pain is that bad, I would suggest going to ER.  They can get fluids and pain meds into your system via IV and they might be able to give you something you can take home for pain.

Thanks for the reminder - the pain is definitely gas related. Praying for a better day tomorrow

The pain is not permanent. It will subside. The gas will absorb. You will feel better each day. If the pain is unbearable, ER is an option. But it does get better.

Walking is great - but I agree with GlenMo  - if pain is that severe I would go to ER.  I had my surgery on a Thursday, d/c Friday and was shopping at the mall on Saturday.  Am now 7 months post op and no regrets at all with the procedure.

That sounds rediculous to me- theree must be another medicine you can take. What are you taking now? I agree about going to the ER if you can't get in liquids. The gas will go away- just walk as much as you can and try gas x strips. If your surgeon won't help you,  maybe your PCP will. I would be annoyed that he wont help, I'm sorry. Hope you feel better soon! You deserve to get some help- you dont have to put up with this much pain! Thinking of you!

Thank you I'm annoyed w/him for sure.  The pain is from the gas - not the incisions.  I'm avoiding the pain meds because they make me so sick.  Can't imagine going to a mall but maybe I'm a baby?? I just want to move past this & get excited to get moving & feeling well again

I got frustrated for the first 7-10 days after surgery. The pain was worse than I thought and I was frustrated that I did this to be healthy and definitely didn't feel healthy! I had to remind myself to give time to heal. Don't try to do too much. Just baby yourself for a few days. Hang in there. It does get better.

There are other pain meds-they just cannot be called into the pharmacy. So you would have to go to ER. Or if still an issue on Monday-you could pick up a prescription for pain meds at the office. I had to do that because the liquid stuff gagged me!

good luck.

Thanks for your encouragement - it really does help. I just pray I make up tomorrow & feel a little bit better. As long as there is slight improvement every day I'll be ok. Today was just an awful day:(

I know there are at least 2 pain meds that can be given in liquid form.  Talk to you pharmacist.  Doctors used to not even be able to prescribe meds, only pharmacist and a good doctor will consult them to see if there is anything you can use.  Also my surgeon sent me home with THREE scripts for meds for nausea.  They wanted to make sure I didn't puke or dry heave as it is the worst thing you can do.  The first script made me sicker and the second worked great.  This is how important the feel about this, they didn't even want up to trow up once having to call for something else.
