Ack! Red rash of doom around my incision sites.
I am having a terrible allergic reaction to my internal sutures (I've deduced). Intense fire ant level itching and burning, all around the incision sites. Doc says I'm allergic to the glue of the steristrips, I tell him I haven't had the steristrips on for days. He says use adhesive remover, I say there's no glue there and I've washed very thoroughly, he says take benadryl, I say I've already taken 300mg in the last 24 hours. I'M SO MISERABLE!!!!!!!! There is absolutely no reaction at the drain site (no stitches), healing beautifully, everywhere else, red bumpy weeping itchy burning rash. Everything I can do to not claw off my abdominal skin. Did anyone else have this problem??

First, be careful you don't take too much benadryl.
Second, do you have an urgent care youth could go to? Is the redness and weeping from scratching the area? I had a reaction to the adhesives and tegaderms they used over my incisions. It was red, itchy, bumps but went away in a week. If you're in such pain, I would definitely make an appointment.
Thanks for responding. I have not scratched one iota, as of course I don't want to make it any worse. What did you do for comfort while waiting for the rash to clear?

Thanks for replying. I have been texting my surgeon since first thing this morning and we seem to just be going round and round the mulberry bush.
