Impatient - waiting for Ins. Co. to Respond

It seems like it is taking forever....forever for my insurance co. to respond.  3-1/2 weeks and waiting.  Still hoping for surgery in early March.

My surgeon does require me to go on the Opti-fast diet for 2 weeks prior.  Would I be stupid to go ahead and start the diet before hearing back from insurance?

Guess I'm getting a little impatient.

Did you call your ins co. to check on your approval?

I've been in touch weekly and nothing yet.  Problem is, I have to talk to a 3rd party not ins. co directly

I agree. Call you insurance company. The first time I called they hadn't started on mine and then after a week I was approved. I got my letter the day I went in to surgery but since I called I could get it done...

Call your insurance company.  I found my insurance made the decision in a few days after receiving the paperwork, but it took about 3 weeks for the approval letter to get to me.  In fact the letter came about 2 weeks after my surgery was complete.

I think you'll be happy if you lose as much weight as you can before surgery.  But I hated the liquid diet, so I wouldn't do that until I really needed to.

good luck,

Carol

Thanks for all the advice.  I'm going to be calling again tomorrow.  My dr's insurance coordinator has been on top of it too.

The pre-op diet isn't all liquid, but I still think I'll wait.
