the opposite of constipation
I have it.
I read in my book that it can be common especially since you're drinking all of your food (makes sense), but it also says to cut back to clear fluids for a few days and cut out the artificial sweeteners. I'm praying it's not a dairy intolerance because I love dairy.
But just clear fluids? Broth and water? I'm sure I could do it but it would suck because I'm already craving more than my shakes and yogurt. And I'm just wondering how I would get my protein in since they all have artificial sweeteners.
I made it out to the store today, parked, And then drove home like a hellion because I got one of *those* stomachaches.
And now I'm trying to replace my lost electrolytes and fluids by even MORE water and done powerade zero.
Just a little rant!
when you start eating solid food the diaaria will stop , there are bathrooms in most supermarkets , my hubby was on chemo a few years back and he knew where every bathroom in the county was
I was told to take imodium call your surgeons office for more info
It could be one of a dozen different things... Honestly, the basic rule immediately post op is "Liquid In = Liquid Out". This is also known as the "Never Trust a Fart" mantra!
I have trouble with artificial sweeteners giving me horrendous gas, but not diarrhea (some people do get diarrhea though). I also became lactose intolerant immediately post op and it lasted a good 6 months. I just reintroduced dairy into my diet about 3 weeks ago.
The best way to figure out what the trigger is? Do a food test. Cut one of the possible offenders out... If the problems persists, cut out another, and so on. If, in the end, you can't find the culprit, it's probably just the LI=LO rule.
Sorry you're having trouble... But don't worry, you'll flip to NOT being able to go sooner than you'd like!

It's TRUE. It boggles my mind that I lose pounds even though I'm not... um... eliminating anything!

I guess the question to pose is "how much" do you have it; basically, does it seem out of proportion to what you're consuming?
If it's more explosive and less regular in the timing, like when you have a stomach bug, that could tend to create a problem. If it seems more normal in the timing, and is just a matter of being more liquid than solid at this point, that is more likely just a function of the liquid diet.
There's also the question of "when" does it happen relative to consumption of shakes and things. If you're getting a episode every time, say 20 minutes or so after drinking a shake, there's probably a connection.
As a side note, I've found that whatever phase I was in, the timing of these events (even though it's regular) varies throughout the day and when it's time it's just time. Fortunately, it's rarely explosive, but there have been a few times that I needed to make sure I was in the right place at the right time.

Good point about the needing to go a bit after consuming something. I'm a nurse, durr lol. I think this is such a foreign experience that my regular spidey sense is on the fritz.
It started off once or twice in the morning, but then I had it in the middle of the day today. I'm going to give it another day and see how it goes, then email my nurse for some more suggestions.
I haven't had a "solid" bowel movement since surgery. It was worse the few weeks after when I was taking in more liquid than anything else, but I am half and half now... two protein shakes a day, a snack, a meal, and maybe a snack. But, I am also very reliable.
8:00am every morning. :-)
Haven't been this regular EVER. :-)
It's not as urgent as it once was, or maybe I'm just learning the signs better.
