Reddening and sensitive gums after a week of liquids

So my surgery was a week ago today and I've been on straight liquids since. Problem I'm running in to is that each day my gums are getting redder and more sensitive each day.... Feeling like I'm getting a gum infection or something and wondering it is it a symptom of not chewing on anything.

Anyone experience this??

I wonder if you have thrush? Is your throat sore? Is your tongue white?  I dunno. Maybe call your surgeon tomorrow and see what he says.

Hi Glow:

I had a horrible case of thrush after surgery from the antibiotics they put in my IV. I had to get a prescription to cure it.

If it's just the gums that are affected, no white stuff on your tongue or throat and your dental health is good, try rinsing with warm sal****er. If that doesn't help I'd give the doc a call.

Oh I hadn't thought about thrush. I will definitly start rinsing with sal****er just in case!

Thanks!

thrush can affect just the gums. Rinsing with sal****er won't kill it. A call to your surgeon for an antibiotic liquid to swish and swallow will cure it quickly.
