I would have one Hershey's kiss.  Savor it and move on from the craving.

Don't eat any sugar - it's just going to keep the craving alive.  If you can hang tough it will get much, much easier as the cravings will diminish.  Feeding the beast keeps it alive!

NO No No don't have any! The more you. Have the more you will want. That was terrible advice from. That poster! With any kind of addiction, and make no mistake craving for sugar IS an addiction, the ONLY way is to go cold turkey! It hurts,I know, been there done that! Addiction to sugar and the withdrawal symptoms are exactly the. Same as those from cocaine!

you can do it,just push forward. One day at a time. Believe it or not,any day now, the craving will start to diminish and go away completely. It takes a bout a week. If you eat even one Hershey kiss, you will be back to square one.

IMHO,this is terrible advice. Would you tell an alcoholic to have one drink and savor it and move on from the craving? I don't think so.... Many of us,including the OP are addicted to sugar and it is just like being addicted to alcohol for us.

What else are you allowed to have?  Can you have sugar-free popsicles or sugar-free jello?  They can help IF you're allowed those on your preop plan.

Are you  having chocolate-flavored shakes?

The preop diet is tough, but it has a purpose.  Stay the course and put the best you possible on the operating table for your surgeon.  :)

It will pass. Becoming aware of your cravings and being in control of them is something that is VITAL post op. Might as well learn now, right? I find that distraction is a good method. Do something that will occupy your hands and your mind... Crochet, knitting, sudoku, crossword puzzles, ANYTHING. I started crocheting and cross stitching, and have since turned into a 27 year old GRANNY, but whatever ;)

I hope I don't come off as being all "suck it up and take some tough love." I truly hear you on the cravings... I've been having acid issues over the last week that have caused fake "hunger" and I have been craving a bowl of cereal... And the funny thing is that I NEVER ate cereal pre op!
