Post op liquid diet
Does anybody have good recipes for the liquid diet portion of the post op diet? I'm 5 days post op and I don't have an appetite for anything. Yogurt didn't go down well, painful. Sugar free pop/fudgicles are okay but tired of sweetness. Tired of broth. Tried cream broccoli soup was okay, but don't want to be on that for the next 10 days. The only other thing I like is v8. Any suggestions?
Are you on clear liquids or full liquids? That makes a big difference in recipe suggestions. For clear, you pretty much have to just deal with the broths... For full liquids, my surgeon told me "anything that you can strain chunks out of." I did quite a few Campbell's soups, but I'd recommend going for the "low sodium" versions, and many canned soups are CRAZY high in sodium. Be careful with too much the V8, the acid in the tomatoes could agitate any reflux that you may have.

I'm 2 days post-op, clear liquids (not even, because I can't have any broths/popsicles, etc....just tea & water) and I'm dying for a protein shake...who would have ever thought I'd say that?!
Are you having protein shakes? I know that's what I'll pretty much live on come Saturday...I ordered 3 different Inspire flavors from BE, as well as a mixed case of those Believe coffeehouse type RTD. I'm counting on them to be awesome :)
www.bariatriceating.com also has a bunch of ways to jazz up protein shakes you might want to check out...I've already written down some I can't wait to try, including SF eggnog protein shake :)
Good luck to you!
