Concerns.... Loose skin

I'm currently on my Preop Liquid diet with my VGS scheduled on 12/27. The only concern I have with being so heavy is the loose skin I'll have after my weight-loss. According to my height and a healthy BMI, I should weigh about 150 lbs. I think I'll look sick if I weighed that. My goal is to reach around 180-190 lbs. I'll be happy, but probably not my insurance company. (They want all of us working at the hospital to weigh in the normal BMI or our insurance premium will go up $100 +.)

Any-who... I'm concerned about the loose skin. I know I'm going to have it... not only abound my tummy area, my upper thighs and saggy boobs. I want to know how ya'll are coping with this? I know I need to concentrate on my weight-loss and being healthy. But I still wonder what I'm going to look like. I've had a coworker (had gastric bypass) tell me "to save now for your plastic surgery, It's expensive". I have great support from my mom, friends, coworkers.  I don't have any doubts to my decision to have the VGS and I'm excited!!!

I didn't think it would bother me  that much.  It did a little more than I first anticipated- but for a totally different reason.  I carried most weight in the middle, and the sagging was pronounced by the time I hit goal.  Just had PS on Monday to deal with that.  Never thought preop vsg though I would do plastics.

The good news is even with the saggy skin it was SO MUCH BETTER than being fat!  I still look good dressed, and the hubby has been incredible about loving me droopiness and all.  In fact, the first he had a problem with it at all was with my PS because it is really dredging up some of his insecurities.

Spanx helps.  When I wanted to wear a dress the droopy tummy was a bummer, but spanx held it together.  Bathing suits were a little scary since I can't hide all the droop, but I still went swimming.

Insurance paid for removing the pannis, I got nailed 2 grand for tightening the muscle and the vertical cut of the tummy tuck.  No clue how bad the hospital charges wil be given it was a split bill.  I will just deal with that later  For now, I am going to just be happy about the TT being over with!

The only other area that really bothers me is the turkey neck.  I will figure out how to scrape enough money together to get that done.  It will take a couple years though, and the turkey neck is far better than my formally very thick neck and triple chic and puffy face!

I cope with my large amount of excess skin by wearing clothes and by not spending a lot of time looking at my nekkid self in the mirror.

I'd much rather have this excess skin than have the 193 excess pounds back on which filled it out so much in the bad old days.

I am having my surgery on Tuesday.  I have been concerned about the same thing.  I just came to the conclusion that I'll wear Spanx and then have a boob job and tummy tuck in a few years.

Weight loss surgery gave me back my health, plastic surgery gave me back my self-esteem.  Save your money, it is so worth it to complete this final step in your transformation.

I was pleasantly surprised how much my skin has tightened up as I lose weight.  I do have some loose skin, but not as much as I anticipated. You may be pleasantly surprised, as well.   I decided early on that I would have plastics if the excess skin bothers me.  I'm just so happy to be healthier and more mobile.

best wishes,

Carol

Plastics....standard package includes breast lift, lower body lift, arm lift, thigh lift. Not everyone needs all of it. I am going in for an LBL and breast lift only. And upper and lower eyelids but that is something unrelated to weight loss. Luckily my insurance will cover all of it but I would do it even if self pay.
