Burps From "Ceftin" Antibiotics??

OK, so I'm sick :( A week ago, a dear friend's toddler sneezed in my face and gave me his cooties and I've had a sinus infection ever since. I went to my PCP about 48 hours after I started feeling crappy and she prescribed Ceftin, an antibiotic that I had never taken pre op. It gives me the absolute nastiest burps. Seriously, these burps smell like rotten eggs and taste just as bad (gross, I know. sorry). Does anyone know if this is a normal reaction to this medication? I did some internet sleuthing and found that there are some funky side effects that are possible, but I'm just wondering if this is a sleeve-specific issue? This medication is supposed to be taken with food, which I do, but since I'm sleeved, I'm wondering if I'm just not eating enough.

Does anyone else have trouble taking certain antibiotics? Or am I just being paranoid and need to suck it up and deal with the burps.

I would probably ask the Pharmacist about that. I had surgery on my hand several years ago and the Doctor put me on a strong antibiotic and it made me severely gassy.  I checked and found out it was the antibiotic.  I haven't had this surgery yet so I can't tell you on the sleeve part.  Hope you feel better soon.

From what I remember about ceftin, it is one of those that will give you fierce diarrhea too. It will also dehydrate you--I had to take it once for a sinus infection and I had terrible headaches from it. A chemist friend of mine who worked for a pharmaceutical firm told me that the chemical composition of the med was such that it would draw away any water molecules in the tissue so you had to be sure to drink plenty of water if you were on it--something I hadn't been told! So be sure you are plenty hydrated. Get well soon!

Huh. I guess that explains why my nose has been SOOO dried out since starting it. Seriously, I've been afraid of nose bleeds! And thanks for the water tip. I've been doing Gatorade Zero since this junk started, but I was wondering why I've been quite SO thirsty!
